Surprise! Junior Ain't Ready

The boys come home for compelling series against the Astronomicals and Redbirds, and of course Junior Griffey is not ready to play. Seriously, who's surprised?

Some knuckleheads might prescribe to the theory that Junior doesn't want to face Oswalt because he can't hit him with a barn, least of all a bat. And some might conspire to believe that the Redlegs need extra time to swing a deal to open roster space.

This, of course, is ludicrous. If you can have a healthy Griffey--in important games, against division opponents, at home, on a weekend, when you draw fans--then, duh, you roll his phat old ass out there.

But Junior will come off eventually and the Redlegs will have to make a roster move. Personally, I see the value of McQ on the team--he runs well, he plays all three outfield positions, he switch-hits--so I'm hoping he's not the goner.

Therefore, a bigger move might be in the works over the weekend.
